ISAS - Interplant Shipment Administrative System is a client/server facility designed for cooperative processing throughout the organization. ISAS may be administered either through the network or on the Internet. ISAS is designed to facilitate the request, recording, and movement of shipments throughout the organization. ISAS has a built in dispatcher facility which automatically queues new requests for shipment by facility and route. Interplant movements are keyed in ISAS along with the desired pick up date/time and the service level (Immediate, Same day by 5PM, Next Day] with a few keystrokes . The sender identifies the destination of the shipment and the expense department to be charged. ISAS will assign a pickup control number which is recorded on the outgoing package. All requests are automatically queued to the plant's shipping room. Interplant movements are also queued to the dispatching facility responsible for the facility. The dispatcher prints the route manifest which will include all authorized pick up and deliveries recorded through ISAS. On return, the driver files the completed manifest with the dispatcher. The dispatcher with the delivery times and signatures is used to update the delivery information on each shipment. Updating is bypassed when the driver uses self contained terminals where each deliveryy is recorded as is executed. The hand terminals are uploaded and ISAS is updated. ISAS will retain the movement information for a six month period (or longer if desired). Through the management information analysis ISAS provides summaries and performance reports documenting the overall performance of the department. ISAS can also issue shipping labels and manifests. A monthly allocation report is also issued documenting the number of packages and services provided to each cost center. Each request can be accessed instantely through the pick up number, shipping department, purchase order number, sales order number, or any other reference number.
