LPMS - Load Planning Management System is a client/server facility designed for cooperative processing throughout the organization. Orders may be keyed into the shipment database or downloaded from the order entry system. Once the orders are received LPMS, will analyze all the shipments and optimize service and transportation cost. Shipments characteristics such as dimensions, cube, weights, [pallets, number of cartons, destinations, and customer desired delivery date are evaluated in lights of the company's transportation strategies. Small packages are evaluated for possible master packaging (to minimize the number of cartons), and routings through various operational scenarios including zone skipping (if appropriate). Once the best carrier is selected LPMS will issue a master shipping plan. Shipping documentation (airbills, bills of ladings, and various manifests) can be printed whenever desired. Bar coded shipping labels for cartons (as well as tiers, and pallets lbels) can be printed. LPMS is designed to serialize the shipping cartons and report to the order entry system the necessary information for advance notification. After ship verification LPMS will close the shipments for planning purposes and retain the data in the distribution database. A fully costed and allocated shipment is also transferred to the TIM2 (Transportation Information Management 2) system for accruals, audit and payment of the freight invoice.
